PCV Training Cost

It’s not easy to become a qualified PCV driver nor is it any easier transporting passengers to and from without the occasional health and safety issues coming up. But that doesn’t mean you can’t overcome these obstacles and go on to become the best PCV driver you can be.

So many opportunities are available for PCV drivers in addition to offering a sizable income and even more sizable career growth. It is time for you to take advantage of what this career offers.

Of course before you go on to become a PCV driver, you will need to get your PCV provisional license, pass your theory and practical exams and get your Driver CPC. Again, not such an easy feat but manageable and doable nonetheless.

There are tons of driving schools that you can choose from to start your training with but of course, you will need to consider the PCV training cost and find a school that is suitable for your budget needs but at the same time will effectively help you pass your tests.

PCV training costs vary according to the number of training days you may need. Before going on to start training, driving schools conduct what is known as Driver’s Aptitude Assessments which determines the number of hours and days that you will require for training. Every driver has varying abilities which is why the assessments are done to begin with. The training must we well-suited for you to guarantee that you will pass your driving tests and become a qualified PCV driver.

Candidates can usually choose from different starter packs with varying PCV training costs as follows:

STARTER PACK 1 – £150.00 + VAT

This pack contains:

  1. DVLA Vocational License Application Pack (if candidate hasn’t got his PCV provisional license yet)
  2. Medical Examination a qualified GP
  3. DSA Theory Test Training Book
  4. DSA Hazard Perception Test CD ROM
  5. Theory Test (inclusive of fee)

STARTER PACK 2 – £185.00 + VAT

This pack contains:

  1. DVLA Vocational License Application Pack
  2. Medical Examination
  3. DSA Theory Test Training Book
  4. DSA Hazard Perception Test CD ROM
  5. Theory Test (inclusive of fee)
  6. 1 hour Assessment Drive

STARTER PACK 3 – £250.00 + VAT

This pack contains:

  1. DVLA Vocational License Application Pack
  2. Medical Examination
  3. DSA Theory Test Training Book
  4. Theory Training Day at our DSA Approved Training Centre
  5. Theory Test (inclusive of fee)
  6. 1 hour Assessment Drive

There are also average D1 courses that usually last for 3 days. The PCV training cost is at £600.00 + VAT plus the driving test fee of £105.00. Depending on how many days you’ll need the PCV training costs is as follows:

  • 1 Day £200.00 + VAT
  • 2 Days £400.00 + VAT
  • 3 Days £600.00 + VAT
  • 4 Days £800.00 + VAT

Some driving schools will charge you for a 5-day training course which already includes the testing fee and the PCV training cost would be approximately £650 plus the £66 testing fee for a total of £716. It is believed that you will need a total PCV training cost of £1000 if you are to get your PCV license, get training and pass your test to become a PCV driver. Some enterprising and practical drivers simply request their employers to pay the PCV training costs and later pay it back through their services.
